1st Annual Workshop

The instructors

Jamie Rogers, MSW, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with Balancing ACTions Inc.and InnoVision For You LLC located in Indianapolis, Indiana. She works with children, adults, individuals and families using approaches that are tailored to the unique needs of each client she serves.

Jamie has over 14 years of experience working in a variety of settings and with diverse clients, including both long-term and brief interventions. Areas of expertise include:

  • Health promotion and prevention education: prevention and intervention strategies on topics such as teen pregnancy prevention, parenting, HIV awareness and self-sufficiency skills for women and youth. 

  • Care management and counseling services working with chronically and terminally ill clients.

  • Individual and group counseling with children and adolescents exposed to domestic violence and other traumatic events.

Mariah Christopher, CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and aspiring yoga instructor will be teaching the class on Yoga (Stretching and Relaxation techniques).  Mariah is a recent college graduate from Ball State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science.  She is currently employed as a personal trainer at the YMCA.  Mariah is continuously seeking to pursue higher education in terms of personal health and wellness.  She is looking to broaden her skills by dedicating her personal time outside of the YMCA to give free yoga classes to anyone seeking to work on their fitness levels.  

Yalonda J. Brown is a seasoned professional who has held corporate roles in the areas of executive management, sales, training, customer service and program management. Yalonda’s drive and self-determination has resulted in a myriad of high functioning roles and professional accomplishments. Mrs. Brown holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and is a certified Development Dimensions International Facilitator. She has many philanthropic interests surrounding her passion for youth development and the empowerment of girls and women. Mrs. Brown is committed to improving the lives of all she touches through her efforts. She is a member of the Board of Directors of AYS, Inc. as well as a member of the National Council of Negro Women. Yalonda is an avid reader and has always enjoyed all forms of writing since she was a young girl. She also enjoys traveling, shopping, and has a creative spirit which she displays in her development of a line of greeting cards dedicated to breast cancer awareness and zeal for fashion.

Lentina Rogers, the founder of Butterfly Effects, will be teaching the class on Relationship Building: Happiness starts with you.  Lentina is a youth mentor, family and success coach, and a motivational/inspiration coach.  Lentina dedicates her time to serving the community with a purpose of educating a younger generation.  She believes that investing time and knowledge into others yields the best return and that is her philosophy on improvement.  Making a positive change on a single person can create a ripple effect on a whole community. As a recipient of the outstanding volunteer award (PAL) from the Indianapolis Athletic League, she has shown consistent commitment to the improvement of people and her community with 20 years of experience.  Lentina is also a proud member of The National Council of Negro Women.  

Keisha Walton will be teaching the Kiddie Canvas.  Keisha is a lover of art and all things drawing.  She believes that painting can be a way to express your spirituality and emotions.  Her time is spent doing event parties for small and large groups as well as a significant amount of time incorporating her art into serving her community.

Keynote Speaker

Skye Berger, founder of Skye Berger Group LLC., will be the keynote speaker for the event.  Skye has a Master's Degree at the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Psychology at Purdue University.  Skye is very experienced in youth engagement and is a professional speaker on topics including: Self-Image, Goal Setting, Self-Care, and Servant Leadership.
